One of my favorite artists is Berthe Morisot. You’ll be hearing lots more about her in the coming months, as she’s the subject of my book, “With Violets,” which will be out in trade paperback in September (published by Avon A).

I received a great new CD for Christmas – Pink Martini’s, “Hey Eugene.”  The review on Barnes & Noble music calls it “a kaleidoscope of retro song styles. Assaying swing, samba, Latin pop, and Japanese noir, among other moods….” What are you listening to these days?

Poetic Tuesday...A Peaceful New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

There’s something poetic about the start of a brand new year.  It holds so many possibilities, so much promise.  As much as I love putting up the Christmas decorations, I also love taking them down… looking at each one and remembering its significance as I pack it away for another year.  Starting fresh.

I make resolutions… Ah, how I love resolutions.  I jot them down with good intentions.  Some I keep.  Yet others get displaced as the wheels of the New Year turn and take me in directions I didn’t foresee. 

This year, rather than making a long, laundry list of “I resolve to’s,” I’m resolved to focusing on being a kinder, gentler person.  Maybe peace on Earth won’t exactly begin with me, but I can certainly do my part to be a positive force.
